The Beckoning of Judgement Day - Part 1 of 2

From the moment I crossed the threshold into the old dinghy house, I felt an aura follow me, unlike others before, this was not the aura of an unfortunate trapped soul. No, this aura was different, it was inhumane, and by the time I had reached the living room, it had entrapped me in its vicious vice like grip. Every step that I took into the interiors of the house, the grip kept tightening, like a noose around my soul, waiting to snap and liberate me of this mortal existence...  Finding my way around the house, I reached the door of the main bedroom, but by this time the diabolical emanation was taking its toll on me, beating down on me with all its might. My head was splitting and I was getting delirious, to the extent where the elephant motifs, on the teak wood door in front of me, started morphing into a kaleidoscopic array of black and brown faces dancing mockingly in front of me... assimilating any leftover will power left in my corporeal shell, I pushed through the door, and almost fell into the grimy puddle of blood and dust... I was barely able to control the sudden urge to retch out my guts...looking at a corpse was not a humane thing to do, and every time you did, a small part of you is wrenched out brutally from your soul, continue with it and soon you will be left without a soul, a soulless entity just wandering in and out of consciousness, aloof of all that is happening around it, caring about nothing, not even self- preservation.

Sidestepping the splatter of blood, I walked towards the stiff cadaver hanging from the ceiling, not from a noose made of rope but of the victims own blood vessels, split pieces of veins and arteries had given way to the body to slouch over, keeping my guts from spewing out everywhere I walked ahead...  towards the wall covered with inverted pentagrams made from blood, a sign of biblical proportions, a sign not commonly found in modern occultism or theology syllabus, a sign forgotten along the dusty pages of history books , a sign forgotten but not lost, a sign which was prophesied would return and with it would bring Armageddon, or as we know it, the end of the world ; the end of times.

”Police detectives have been trained to search for clues and come to a logical conclusion, but not all cases have a logical conclusion, some are inexplicable, because there is no humane rationale available for it... because some things just are with no why or how behind it, they just are, these cases have a more sinister reason behind it... and now that’s where I come in, John Wolfe, certified paranormal investigator, got a pesky little poltergeist ruining your life call me, or is your daughter possessed or worse, a witch, call me at 1800-666-666 and I’ll be there to rid you of any supernatural threats”.
“And that’s a cut”, Jake screamed out to the entire crew...”that was an awesome shoot John, I guess we are done, let me get this to my editor and we’ll have this on the television screens by tonight, we already have a tie-up with many channels and they have agreed to show this clip on their channels, for a small fee though “, Jake smiled through his teeth, just the mention of money was enough to have him grinning from ear to ear. I replied” yeah sure, I’ll have my assistant Gary transfer it to you by evening”. Walking toward my recently furbished office I wondered how long before the calls started pouring in, sitting down on my chair, I rolled myself across the floor towards my laptop lying idly on the sofa. Pulling up the already loaded excel sheet, I entered in the accounts, another 1000 dollars under expenses while the revenue generated counter blinked the same zero dollars , the same since I started my own PI agency, not a private investigator, a paranormal investigator, in sunny San Francisco... if only I didn’t have to shift office from Los Angeles. All it takes for a renowned paranormal investigator to fail in their career is miss out on recognizing a hoax, and there goes your career, fame, money, and respect downhill to the deep trenches of nothing, whereupon you become a nobody, a vagabond...which was precisely my condition before I shifted to san Francisco.
Shifting the tab from my excel sheet to my emails, I was least surprised by the lack of any new mails, having nothing to do, my mind drifted here and there, nothing important for me to focus on. Suddenly aware of my eyelids getting heavier by the second, after all the heavy work of the last few days which included setting up my new office, I was now ready for a deep slumber, collapsing on the sofa I closed my eyes, completely impervious to the popup on my laptops screen, reading out “YOU HAVE NEW MAIL, SUBJECT: URGENT”.....

The Farewell

Ray tiptoed up the grated stairway, its grey metallic plates screeching in falsetto screams. Ever so slowly, he opened the door a bit. A tiny gust of wind blew in and again, he shut the opening. He exhaled loudly, preparing himself for the arduous job ahead. Today was the perfect day. Now was the perfect time. The job had to be done. Foraying into the terrace, he clung onto his guitar case tightly, his knuckles whitened and his countenance wrinkled with anxiety. His Master’s words echoed in his head, “Emotions cloud your judgement. Stay clear; stay focussed.” Killing was an art – just like painting – and it required patience and precision. The tiled floor was as dry as the desert, with multi-coloured mosaics dotting the wide expanse. On the knee-height, alabaster walls, graffiti was plastered with stray sprays refusing to vanish. He crouched low at the precipice, his Master’s mantra booming in his mind. Just as the Master had prophesised, it was snowing ...

Music to my eyes

Do you know that moment when Kasoor starts playing and that one memory comes back to you? The butterflies in your stomach and the blush on your cheeks come back and so does the night by the fountain.  You can feel the moment materializing before your eyes like a movie on a screen, hear the sound of the crickets and the gentle splashes of the fountain mingling with the song playing right now. You feel the wind ruffling past your body and your scarf gently swaying in the cold night. That song and all your memories of that night by the fountain come back. Have you ever felt that sudden heartache when 'the night we met' plays and all you can think of is that one person who makes you go back to that night every day?  That weird but sweet nostalgic feeling makes you smile uncontrollably because that night at the restaurant, with your colleagues and him, had turned out to be the best celebratory dinner. And all you can wish is for him to "take me back to the night we met"...
